4 Days Chogoria – Sirimon Route Trekking

4 Days  Chogoria - Sirimon Route Trekking The Chogoria route is less crowded since it takes longer, but that the scenes on this route more than make up for it. there is a little bit of everything ;loud and splashing Nithi falls, clean and sparkly rivers and springs, the Mugi hills perfect for bird watching and the magnificent lake Michaelson with the Temple above it. The Sirimon route used for descending has          the perfect view of the giant groundsels and lobelia. NOTE: though this hike can be completed in 4 days, we highly recommend adding another day. The second day is very demanding and tedious as we climb up to Minto’s camp. There is an option of spending an extra day at Minto’s relaxing and enjoying the view or better still spending the night at Nithi Camp that is halfway to Minto’s. A short walk to Nithi Falls or climb Mugi hill for better acclimatisation is advised. Day 1: Nairobi – Mt Kenya Bandas (2,900m) 10km 950m ascent. A drive from Nairobi to Chogoria town for lunch after which we take a 4*4 vehicle to drive up where we start our hike via the bamboo forest. The vehicle helps in cutting most of the lower ground. We walk for 3 hours to the Mt Kenya Bandas for dinner and an overnight. Day 2: Mt Kenya Bandas – Minto’s campsite (4,200m) 8-9 hrs. 17km, 1,400 ascent. The day starts early after breakfast in order to make it to the Minto’s camp before its dark yet not sacrificing the magical sceneries on this route. , the Giant billiards table, Mugi hills, the Gorges Valley and the view of the picks ahead and the vast plains below. A picnic lunch and occasional stop overs to drink and refill the water bottles. Dinner and an overnight stay at the Minto’s campsite. Day 3: Minto’s – Pt. Lenana (4,985m) – Old Moses Camp          (3,300m) 11-12 hrs. 785m ascent, 24km, 1,685m descent This is a busy day that starts at three am in order to enjoy sunrise at the peak of point Lenana .after that rewarding experience, we descend to the Shimpton’s camp for breakfast and continue further to old Moses where we spend the night.
